What is military time chart?

Military time chart is a way of expressing the time of day using 24-hour clock format, meaning that the 24 hours of a day are divided in two 12-hour periods from 00:00 to 11:59 and from 12:00 to 23:59. This type of clock format is mainly used by the military, air traffic controllers, and other organizations that need to be precise about the time measurements.

The main distinction between regular and military time comes from the use of an extra digit at the beginning of a 12-hour cycle. For example, when a regular unit reads "6 PM", then it means 6 PM on a 12-hour cycle and 18 PM in military time value. On the other hand when military clock reads "0600" it means 6 AM on a 12-hour cycle and 18 PM on 24-hour clock.

Military Time Charts are very helpful when trying to figure out how much time elapsed in some interval or when there are international calls between different countries. Since it eliminates any confusion due to use of several variants of times such as AM/PM or A/P (after midday, afternoon) this type of clock format maximizes accuracy across thousands of miles.

Military Time Charts also come with decimal based representations for each 1 hour or 15 minute increments using only minutes during each hour increments such as 1 minute during first 30 minutes, 2 minutes for last 30 minutes after 13:30 until 13:59. This allows to easily calculate how much time have elapsed in some interval without guessing exact hours or minutes between two points.
